How To Make Dark Chocolate Covered Oreos?

By admin

What I have available is Dove Dark Chocolate. Will that work? If not, just go ahead and let me know how to do this. I know that dealing with chocolate temperament is tricky so I will appreciate if someone how really knows what he is talking about could answer this question. I always give 10 points to the best answer; it will not go to vote. Thanks.
Not only Dark Chocalate. If anybody knows how to work with fudge I will gladly listen.
Yes LR, please let me know about your other recipes. Thanks.

I make these every fall for my gift baskets. I use a chocolate called Almond Bark, usually available at Walmart, which comes in light, milk, dark and vanilla. I simply place a small pot of SIMMERING ( boiling casues too much steam) water on my stove put the chocolate in another pot that will sit just above the water and allow it to melt. whatever you do don’t let any water or steam get in the chocolate, it will cause it to not set up or get solid again. once the chocolate is completely melted use a set of tongs to dip the oreos or anything that you want in the chocolate and place on wax paper. Allow it to cool down to when the chocolate is a solid again and place in an air tight container.
Some other things that I dip is whole marshmallows, graham crackers with peanut butter between 2 of them and I even make pecan clusters. Just let me know if you want to know how to do these others…I’ll Gladly share what I know. Good Luck.

Well, I will say that I’m not experienced with this, but I typically have good common sense.

I would think that any dark chocolate, sans baker’s chocolate (because it’s bitter) would be ok to use. First, I’d break it into pieces, and then heat it up in the microwave. As soon as it is shiny, it’s melted. So don’t over heat, or it will burn. I’d stir it really well, until smooth. Then I would very carefully, using some tongs or chop sticks, something along that line, to dip the cookie in the chocolate. Then I’d place it on a tray lined with wax paper, and place it in the fridge to harden back in place.

Sorry if this isn’t what you were looking for, but I hope it helps.

Dove will do. Ghirardelli is better. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Once it is melted remove from heat. Let chocolate cool until the it feels cool when you touch it to your lip: meaning> once is is below your body temperature, 98*. Prepare a cookie sheet covered with waxed paper. Dip your Oreos, place them on the waxed paper and allow them to dry in a cool dry place. If you are in a rush the refrigerator can work too.
