Posted by: | CommentsI’m researching for my College speech class and need examples of dark chocolate that has a cocoa content over 70%, does anybody know of any candy you can buy at the store that meets this criteria?
that’s all I eat!! its from Scharffenberger….I get it at Whole Foods Store, and its healthy and good for you…I’m german and love chocolate, but after eating all my life Tobler, Mozart Kugeln and Lindt….this is a real experience….you just don’t eat it like other chocolates, you put a little piece in your mouth and let it melt….also try the Trüffel…zart-bitter…very good!!

Does anyone have a recipe for a healthy birthday cake no chocolate or sugar allowed.?
Posted by: | CommentsI need a recipe for a birthday cake as it is my sons first birthday and I dont give him sugar, chocolate or sweetners and everyone need a birthday cake please help.
There is no refined sugar in this recipe. The sweetness comes from the fruit:
*Sugar Free Banana Cake*
- 2/3 c. banana, mashed
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 3 lg. eggs
- 3/4 c. water
- 2 c. unbleached flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- OPTIONAL: 1 c. chopped walnuts OR 1/2 c. chopped walnuts & 1/2 c. raisins
Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan. Beat together mashed banana and soft butter until creamy. Beat in water. In a separate bowl, beat eggs until very foamy. Beat into mixture. Blend in flour, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon. Beat until smooth. Stir in walnuts or walnuts and raisins, if desired. Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Cool. Serves 8-10.
Here’s another one using just fruit as sweetener. This one actually has frosting so it may make a better birthday cake. —>
*Sugar Free Applesauce Cake*
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 1/2 cups ground almonds
- 2 Macintosh apples - peeled, cored and finely chopped
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened apple butter
- 2 tablespoons frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 inch square baking pan. Beat the eggs until they drop like ribbons from the beaters. Continue beating and add the oil in a thin stream. Beat in the 1 cup applesauce and the 1 cup unsweetened apple juice concentrate. Beat in the flour gradually until well blended. Add the baking soda, ground ginger, ground almonds and apples, mix to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 40 minutes or until the cake tests done. Let cake cool on a rack for 15 minutes before turning out of pan. Cool completely before frosting. Carefully slice the cake in half horizontally with a long serrated knife. Fill and frost with Apple Butter Frosting.
To Make Apple Butter Frosting: Beat the cream cheese until soft and fluffy. Gradually beat in the apple butter and remaining 2 tablespoons apple juice concentrate.
Does anyone know where to find Dark chocolate covered soynuts (not edamame)?
Posted by: | CommentsTrader Joes used to carry this product and I became addicted! Apparently they didn’t sell well enough, because they were caught under the axe. Trader joes does have dark chocolate edamame, but that is not the same as the soy nuts.
I have also found milk chocolate covered soynuts, but cannot find dark chocolate. I have been searching my local stores, health food stores and internet - with no luck. Any tips would be appreciated!
